Vic Open is over for another year but you can still enjoy the final 9 by Cut Roll Media. Thanks to Oscar Fehlberg, Ryan Budge, Darren Stace-Smith, Michael Lewis and all involved for creating this great footage.
A great deal of care went into the creation of items for the players packs, trophies and prizes for the 2018 Vic Open. Players will have noticed a number of bespoke items, made with care by our very own Melbourne Disc Golf Club Members.
The trophies for the event were designed, 3-D printed and donated by Paul Arden from Fidget Mini. Special filament was ordered to create gold, silver and bronze trophies and many hours were devoted to the printing and construction of trophies for all divisions. Thank you Paul. They look amazing and I am sure all recipients were delighted to take home one of these beauties. Paul also donated Fidget Minis for many of the prize packs.
The Cider and beer were lovingly made and supplied by Tarron and Aidan from Bathroom Brothers Brewing. We know these were well received because they were all gone by the end of the weekend. Thank you Tarron and Aidan.
Those lucky enough to win their division walked away with a one-of-a kind Spin Dye Disc created by Oscar Felberg from Stony Creek Disc Golf. They look super sweet. Thank you! Oscar’s discs are available from Portal Disc Sports.

Personalised bag tags and re-usable calico bags for our player packs were designed and created by Carol Heath from Pixel By Pixel and family. The calico bags were individually lino printed. No two are exactly alike.

Thank you to all club members and others who contributed to this event. Our artisans, our course designers and set-up crews, our photographers and film makers, and of course, our sponsors. We make a great team!
Wow! What a weekend. Perfect disc golfing weather and some hot competition in all divisions of the 2018 Victorian Disc Golf Open.
We had a total of 74 players complete at least 1 round of the event, with 64 of those playing all three rounds (in addition, the three juniors were only required to play 2 rounds).
Scoring was excellent with multiple 1000+ rated rounds being booked by the top players along with 7 eagles being thrown, all by different people.
After a very tight tussle, Patrick (Patty) Robinson edged Simon Feasey by just one stroke for the Men’s Open title, followed closely by Jarrath Sweetten and Christopher Finn.
Cassie Sweetten took out the top Women’s prize. Other winners were Aaron Fain (MA1), Stephen Clarke (MA2), Thomas Duncan (MA4), Bruce McNaughton (MM1), Jeff Brunsting (MG1), Katie Klik (FA4) and Evelyn Heath (FJ2).
Thanks to everyone who played, sponsored or supported the event and to the volunteers from the Melbourne Disc Golf Club who gave up so much of their time to make this such an amazing event happen.
Events like the Victorian Disc Golf Open would not be possible without the generous support of our sponsors. This year we have amazing players packs and prizes, delicious catered meals, and bespoke beverages for our competitors, none of which would be possible without our sponsors. This year we have been fortunate to receive support from individuals and businesses, large and small. Some well known to the disc golf community and a few businesses who are keen to get to know you.
Kastaplastwith help from Portal Disc Sports are supplying discs for our player packs plus some other surprises this year. “Anytime is disc golf time” and the folk at Kastaplast are determined to supply you disc golf heroes with equipment that won’t let you down, “rain, snow, wind or mud.”. With Melbourne weather being what it is, who knows? we might be able to experience disc golf in all of these conditions this weekend!….perhaps not the snow.
